Leadership U

Do members of your troop want to be a camp counselor? Work with younger girls in a troop or day camp setting? Would they like to have more confidence in front of a group of people? Leadership U. offers a variety of courses that help Teen Girl Scouts learn how to become a leader, plus have fun meeting other girls from our council. Leadership U.
Girls learn all about being a leader through this introductory class. They will learn about leadership styles, develop presentation skills and create a meeting agenda.
 
Who: Girl Scouts, grades 7th – 12th
Bring: A confirmation packet will be mailed that includes a packing list and other workshop details.

Program Aide Training
This basic training includes information for working with younger Girl Scouts. Girls will learn about themselves while they are strengthening their leadership skills. Upon completion of this course, the Program Aide pin will be awarded.
 
Who: Girl Scouts, grades 6th – 12th
Bring: A sack lunch, snacks and drinks provided

Positive Power Aide
Girls will learn how to help Girl Scouts learn about healthy friendships through the Positive Power program. They will learn how to learn Positive Power activities with younger troops. This training will enable girls to promote Positive Power within their Service Unit and community. Program Aide is a prerequisite for this course.
 
Who: Teen Girl Scouts, ages 12 – 17

Day Camp Aide
This training is for girls that want to have a leadership role within Day Camp. They will learn the basic skills needed for Day Camp: cooking, first aid, fire building, etc. Girls will strengthen their outdoor skills as they learn all about being a Day Camp Aide.
 
Who: Girl Scouts in grades 6th – 12th
Prerequisite: Program Aide Training (girls must take this course first)
Bring: a mess kit, water bottle and dress appropriately for the weather.

Trip Planning Workshop

Has your troop earned Interest Project Patches, sold cookies, gone camping? Are they ready for a new challenge as a Teen Girl Scout? It's time to travel...and The Sky's the Limit!
Bring your destination ideas to this workshop. Let’s focus on learning the process of planning a safe and fun trip of a lifetime! Traveling with your sister Girl Scouts is the greatest experience!

By dedicating yourself to learning this process, at the end of the day you could have an idea of where you want to go, what you will do on your trip, how you can raise the money, and how to be safe.

 
Who: Girls ages 13 - 17 and their troop advisors (advisors go to the Just for Volunteers page).
 
Class Size: Limited to 30 girls
 
Note: This workshop is mandatory for girls and adults in troops/groups traveling for three or more days after January 2007.
 

Bring: (no cell phones, please)

  • A sack lunch and drink
  • A writing utensil
  • A list of rules you believe should be followed by girls and adults as you go through the process of earning money and planning your trip.
  • Submit Travel Application and gain approval from Council prior to attending Trip Planning Workshop

Teamwork/Teamplay

You will experience and explore some of the initiative activities and problem-solving elements found in a portable challenge kit and learn how to facilitate challenge activities with girls. These activities help teach team building, communication, creativity, conflict resolution, cooperation, trust and decision-making. TW/TP activities are indoor or outdoor activities.

Come learn, play, and share the fun! Upon completion of this training you will be eligible to check out a TW/TP kit. This is a great activity for Service Teams and teen troops.
