Troop Membership
Girl Scout troops start at 5 girls and two adult leaders, but most troops typically have from 10 to 30 girls. The girls can be from one or more school grades and they meet together once a week or every other week. An adult volunteer leader and assistant leader along with a volunteer support team work with each troop. Meeting times are varied - after school, in the evenings or on weekends. Meeting days and times are agreed upon leaders, girls and parents.

Juliette Girl Scout (Individually registered)
Girls join Girl Scouts as a Juliette to take part in group and individual Girl Scout activities offered on a year round basis. Girls can work on activity badges with an adult mentor of her choosing and they can participate in all Girl Scout programs in her age level including resident camp, leadership courses, service projects, badge projects, and a variety of events that appeal to today's girls.

School's Out
Girl Scout groups are organized in a number of elementary and middle schools. The groups meet at the school immediately following the school day once a week or every other week. Part-time Girl Scout staff directs the activities along with the support of a volunteer team.

My Summer Place
Girl Scout groups are organized in community centers and churches during the summer. The groups meet at the sites once a week either weekdays or weekends for six weeks. Part-time Girl Scout staff direct the activities along with the support of a volunteer team.

In-School Girl Scouting
Girl Scout groups are organized in middle schools and meet during the school day once a week during the school year. Part-time Girl Scout staff direct the activities along with the support of a volunteer team.

High School Girl Scouts
Girl Scout groups are organized in high schools under the direction of part time Girl Scout staff. Girls along with their adult leadership team tailor a meeting and schedule for themselves that includes leadership, service and social activities.

Interest Group Girl Scouts
Girls with a common interest such as horse riding or math and science become part of a Girl Scout interest group. Under the direction of a volunteer leadership team, the girls would spend their time gaining skill and experience in the interest of their choice. Their activities and meeting schedule is set by the group.

Special Program
Girl Scout Special Programs are organized for girls who might otherwise have the opportunity to join Girl Scouts due to circumstances beyond their control. Girls whose mothers are incarcerated can join Girl Scouts through Girl Scouts Beyond Bars where they do activities along with their mothers under the supervision of Girl Scout staff. Girls whose parents are migrant farm workers in Lexington, Mo and Kansas City, Kansas become Girl Scouts through fall and summer Girl Scout programs that are offered once a week for up to six weeks and are directed by Girl Scout staff.
